About Me

Welcome to my Tangled to Pieces site. I’d like to share a little about myself, and my enthusiasm for Zentangle®.

I’m a retired clinical social worker, a parent, grandparent, and avid reader who likes to travel and explore new places. I’ve always loved creative activities, especially quilting and paper crafts, but I never thought I could draw. In 2011, on a whim, I took my first zentangle class and I’ve been hooked ever since! I discovered that I can draw, and it’s opened up a whole new world for me. Zentangle has allowed me to develop my creativity and given me confidence in my artistic ability. Not only do I find it to be an enjoyable creative outlet, but I become so focused in the process of drawing that I find myself in a very peaceful state. That’s the ‘zen’ in zentangle.  In a world where everything is so busy and rushed, zentangle provides some welcomed respite.

In 2012 I traveled to Providence, RI to be trained by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas, the founders of the zentangle method . The training I received went beyond the technical aspects, into the philosophy and wellness aspects of zentangle.  I was immersed in the art of Zentangle and received my certification to teach it.

In addition to the training with Rick and Maria in 2012, I’ve been fortunate to have attended further CZT training in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016, including classes taught by: Sandy Steen Bartholomew, author of several zentangle books, such as Yoga for the Brain and Totally TangledMarie Browning, author of Time to Tangle in Color, Beckah Krahula, author of One Zentangle a Day, Cris Letourneau, author of Made in the Shade and Pattern Play, Cherryl Moote, author of All Tangled Up, and Meredith Yuhas, Phd, Director of  The Counseling and Wellness Center at St. Joseph’s, West Hartford, CT. who spoke about Zentangle as a form of mindful meditation.

I take great pleasure in sharing everything I’ve been taught about zentangle with my students and seeing their enthusiasm as they learn and develop their own creativity. I love what I’m doing!
